References on a Resume - Is It Necessary?
References on a Resume - Is It Necessary? What are the reasons that you do not put references on a resume? The obvious reason is that you do not have a list of people you trust who can attest to your skills and experience. You do not even know if they have the time or inclination to check out your resume before they hire you. While some people have resorted to using reverse phone book searches to find out if any of their old friends or business associates still want to hire them, a better method would be to use email references or to send a letter to a business entity that you have worked for in the past. Ask the person to pass it along if they can and you may be surprised at how much you would like to have more information on your resume. There are plenty of online references out there. You can make up a list of these and then send them an email to find out if they will forward your details to you for consideration. Some sites will actually send you a questionnaire about yourself and y our resume so that you can see if the employer wants you or not. Remember, this is not about them checking your references. One of the worst things you can do when you are trying to keep from getting any possible negative results by search engines is to put them in your resume. The number one thing that search engines will pick up is the keywords that you have put in the body of your resume. The other thing they will pick up is the opening paragraph which in most cases has a long list of keywords. If you have an internet connection or a slow computer then it may be a good idea to get some online references before you send your resume to anyone. Even if you are just checking out a few names on your own, you can still do it and use this information to send your resume on to some of the better employers out there.Tdo you put references on a resume References are great for many reasons. The first reason is that they will take some of the pressure off the job board by giving them a name t o check out and at the same time give them a name that they can go on to give you a referral. When you are looking for a new job then the best thing to do is use this tactic. Many times you can find better offers just by going on the company's site or even on the internet to see what other jobs they have for new employees.
